It’s getting ever more difficult to survive this time of year isn’t it? Party invites, extra cooking, buying presents, sending cards, accepting/declining invites, wrapping presents, over-indulging etc etc etc. All while keeping a semi-fixed smile on your face and pretending to be enjoying it. The worst part is probably the first day back at work after New Year. A killer or what? Take it easy out there folk, and have a safe New Year!

England win at Rugby!
This was something I did not expect – I didn’t even watch it as I was expecting the Wallabies to walk it. Amazingly enough the French beat the All-Blacks as well. Strange, indeed.
I may well watch the French in their games to follow. I’m still not so keen on watching England (despite it being my national side) because let’s face it, they play a kind of rugby that is not too entertaining to the neutral. Still good to beat the Aussies though!
An apology is due to those who left comments here. I thought I’d changed my settings so that stuff was automatically approved – apparently not. I shall have to look again…

All systems go…
The contract’s been agreed, I’ve got the overdraft to enable me to survive 2 months before I get paid, and I start work tomorrow. If I perform adequately, you won’t see much of me over the next few months (may be an occasional weekend post). There again, if I completely mess up I’ll probably do something drastic (let’s hope it doesn’t come to that). One thing (and I know it’s a small thing) that I’m not looking forward to is getting new ids and passwords to use on the IT systems. I seem to be creating new id/password sets everyday now, and it gets really annoying. Often I set the browser or computer to remember the password automatically – doesn’t seem much point in having the password!

Autumn
We’ve had some very nice days in the last month here in Blighty (after the floods of mid-summer). Autumn is now upon us, and the temperature is now likely to decline. This is rarely too much of a problem in England, as it doesn’t usually get too cold. However, the dark days, early nights etc can be a bit depressing, especially if we get a period of constant precipitation. Having said that, there are many nice things to see in nature in Autumn; perhaps this website gives some good examples:
